Joseph ("Joe") Rosenbaum is a partner in the New York office, Deputy Practice Group Leader of Reed Smith's global Advertising Technology & Media Law practice group and head of the E-Commerce and Information Technology practice. A corporate commercial lawyer with domestic and international experience over a wide range of sophisticated and complex transactions, Joe focuses on the law and policy relating to digital, interactive and wireless media, advertising and branded entertainment, online and offline promotions and interactive gaming, user generated content, electronic commerce, information technology, security and risk management and the implications of digital technology on advertising, media and business operations across a wide range of industries – from media and entertainment and banking and financial services to technology and telecommunications; from travel and leisure and social networking to interactive gaming, wireless and web-based interactive media and advertising. With a broad spectrum of domestic and international experience, Joe’s experience spans such diverse areas as advertising, marketing and promotions, joint ventures, marketing, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, emerging technology, privacy, data protection and information security, PCI compliance, fraud and risk management, e-commerce, outsourcing, financial services and payment technologies, digital broadcasting, electronic publishing, multi-media and entertainment, among others. Joe is seasoned in national and international promotions - sweepstakes, contests and interactive gaming, as well as intellectual property law, including brand management – with global experience in brand management. Joe is recommended for his "technical expertise in technology transactions in the advertising industry" in The Legal 500 directory and writes and lectures extensively, domestically and internationally. As an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham University Law School and New York Law School, he has taught courses in Computer Law and The Law of Electronic Commerce and Information Technology. Joe served for an unprecedented 3 consecutive terms on the National Conference of Lawyers and Scientists based in Washington, DC and currently is the Chair of the Awards Panel for the Committee on Scientific Freedom and Responsibility of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Joe is a founding member and continues to serve on the Advisory Board of the Center for Law, Science and Technology at the College of Law, Arizona State University. He is also a designated technology and intellectual property dispute resolution mediator for the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) based in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition to numerous articles, which have been cited in other scholarly works and Federal court cases, Joe is the author of a number of two books, The RFP Handbook: Guidelines And Standards For The Preparation And Issuance Of Requests For Proposals (Rothstein Associates; 1996) and Outsourcing Agreements Line by Line, (Aspatore Books; 2004).
